At CHI 2016, we presented FlexTiles in an interactive demo. FlexTiles is a flexible, stretchable pressure sensitive tactile input sensor consisting of three layers of fabric. New input sensors are very important in the context of smart glasses. During the CHI 2016 demo we demonstrated three different applications. This included a pressure-sensing floor mat, which showed how it can be used to cover large areas, an interactive steering wheel, to show how it can conform to 3D objects, as well as a sensing sock for prosthetic lower-limbs, which shows its potential in the domain of smart wearables. Several attendees with both academic and industry backgrounds visited our booth to try out our prototypes. Visitors included Jakob Nielsen, Pourang Irani, and Harald Reiterer.
